Nothing bonds two people together quite like playing a married couple on TV. So, really, it’s no surprise that after six season on Modern Family, Sofia Vergara knows her on-screen husband Ed O’Neill inside and out.
Luckily for the rest of us, she was willing to share a few of the deep secrets that she’s learned over the years. Turns out, Jay Pritchett has a very hidden talent that might come in handy if, say, he and Gloria were ever attacked by muggers.
"Ed O'Neill is a black belt in jujitsu," Vergara told People's Choice at PaleyFest earlier this year. Who saw that one coming?
Suddenly, we have a very strong desire to pitch some kind of Modern Family/martial arts movie crossover.
Of course, O'Neill doesn't just have devastatingly sharp jujitsu moves; he's also got a wickedly sharp sense of humor. When we asked Vergara to reveal which of her co-stars keeps her laughing on set, he managed to stand out amongst the rest of the show's incredibly hilarious cast.
"That's a hard one," Vergara debated. "Probably Ed O'Neill."
But just because her cast members might be some of the funniest people in Hollywood, doesn't mean Vergara couldn't make room for one more funny lady to join the Dunphy-Pritchett clan, if only for an episode or two.
